Choosing in this shelf
A balaclava is one piece doing three jobs at once: hat, neck warmer and face cover. That is why the fabric matters more here than in any other shape. Fleece holds warmth and blocks wind but fogs glasses when the breathing panel is small. Thin stretch knit breathes and dries but gives up warmth in a headwind.
Read the coverage first. Full face leaves an eye opening and nothing else, half face stops at the bridge of the nose, and a hooded cut adds a bib that tucks under a collar. The maker names the cut in the title of every piece, and we keep that word.
